Understanding firms’ entry behavior in the introductory periods of new industry and the industry evolution patterns; Examining major forces that lead to the ‘shake-out’ phenomenon commonly observed during industry development.
Qiaowei Shen Professor Qiaowei Shen’s research interests include empirical modeling of firm decision making, economic analysis of social influence and interactions, and competitive marketing strategy. Professor Shen’s current research studies firms’ strategic entry and exit decisions in the evolution process of an industry and how the industry structure is shaped by firms’ aggregate actions. She employs dynamic modeling to understand firms’ entry timing decisions in the early stage of new industry as well as the ‘shakeout’ phenomenon that is commonly observed during industry evolution. Professor Shen received her PhD degree from UC Berkeley and her M.A. and B.A. in Economics from Peking University in Beijing, China.
